Why are you lieing. You know with a certainty that russia did not invade georgia, that georgia withdrew its peacekeepers and then attacked its russian peackeeper colleagues in the break away republic, opening the war with artillery atacks on civilian targets.

why are you misrepresenting this?

for what purpose.

A good point, though Tskhinvali is still technically in Georgia, before any agreement is reached on independance - (The placing of Tskhinvali in Georgia is by the original source article, see link - not mine)

I personally believe that both reasons should be given their independance, though such small regions can not exist on their own economically or politically and so will probably become part of Russia, if that is their wish. They will be forced to to survive. My objections, and the reason for my posts is the undoubted disproportionate response by the Kremlin, which is the general global reaction, from most but a few countries (Venuezuala, Belarus, Azerbaijan, etc - for their own political reasons).
Time will tell on casualties, as both sides have more than likely lied regarding number of casualties, as reflected in my various found news sources and posts. But many different news correspondents that are now in South Ossetia are suggesting that there is not yet evidence for the level of casualties reported initially, and that Tskinvali is not 'like Stalingrad'. Damage is relatively light by war standards. Read ALL available sources and then comment.

The Kremlin have an ulterior motive for the Georgia invasion, and the wellbeing of the separatist regions and people are only of secondary importance to them (look at Chechnya- Putin's original show of barbarism). The whole region and situation was manipulated by your leaders to provoke the foolish Georgians into attacking. Again, read all available sources and see if you can -in all honesty- argue against this statement.
I hope this and other probable future events in places like Ukraine, engineered by your autocratic leaders, do not bring East and West to the brink again.
peace,

Tskhinvali is in South Ossetia, my friend, not in Georgia. The people fight for their independence, and at least would like to see people saying that their capital is their capital.

You have also look at many news sources and analyze them. 40 dead people in the hospital, are only the ones that have been recovered. Have you ever seen a video of a "Grad" system firing? Many people that died in Tskhinvali, South Ossetia are still under the rubble. Also, "Grad" missiles simply tear people apart if they hit anywhere near them.

In addition, you say that Russia pounded through Georgia. You do realize that Russian troops simply demilitarized Georgia as much as they could. They don't want Georgia to try the same thing in the near future. So the troops destroyed military bases in order to set back the Georgian military. There was no way that Georgia was going to roll into Russia, so of course Russia will be viewed as the big bad "bear".
